Preface: Medicinal and aromatic plants are often regarded as green gold due to its immense value in human health and economic wellbeing of people and nation as a whole. herbs are used in medicine since antiquity, Rigveda, one of the oldest Veda had quoted the use of plants in medicine. Much of the medicinal plants are documented in the age- old medical sciences like Ayurveda and Chinese system of medicine. Nearly five hundred plants of vegetable origin are documented in Charak and Sushruta Samhita.
